MALCOLM ROXS

PUSH THE SKY  2023

Malcolm Roxs is of Argentinian and Uruguayan origin, born in Buenos Aires in 1980. As a self-taught artist, he started experimenting with an Airbrush at a young age and was influenced by the “Do it Yourself” movement. After turning twenty Malcolm decided to return to his homeland, Buenos Aires, and engage in Performance Art. In 2008, feeling the need to take his career to a new level, Roxs moved to Europe and participated in various collaborations with numerous artists and organizations, like Francisco Goya exhibition, Stedelijk Museum, Art Monaco, Iggy Pop, Sven Vath, Farah Pahlavi, amongst many others. All Malcolm’s works deal with his biography: artist conveys his feelings and inspirations through a complex layering and masking processes incorporating technology. Using an Airbrush on canvas and ceramics, Roxs generates a compelling chiaroscuro effect. In addition, Malcolm has created a performance called “Demolition Painting Show”. Its essence lies in the captivating interplay of bare hands, liquid paints, music, and light, resulting in a fully immersive synesthetic experience.

PLANE TO SATURN

On July 28, 2023 were held the opening of the first solo exhibition ‘Plane to Saturn’ by artist Malcolm Roxs, featuring a serie of new Airbrush paintings and ceramics completed in the studio in Sveti Stefan, Montenegro.

The collection unfolds like a hyperreal journey, inviting viewers to embark into the sphere of the artist's imagination. As attendees navigate through the monochrome space, they transcend the boundaries of their own reality, embarking on a transformative encounter guided by Malcolm's exceptional vision.

Engaging with these extraterrestrial artworks allures visitors through the vibrations and frequencies, transforming them into magnetic beings. The emotions and thoughts of spectators resonate with the pull of an intangible sphere, appearing with nude figures, airplanes and abstract forms. Some masterpieces speak directly to participants through metaphors imprinted on their surface, revealing the deep qualities of the subconscious.
