RUK51 is an art movement born from the collaboration of three cities: San José (Uruguay), Chongqing (China), and Moscow (Russia). Its goal is to unite artists from around the world, sharing creative energy and engaging in social intervention to influence the future of art and support new generations.

The name RUK51 encapsulates the essence and methodology of the movement.

"RUK" represents a provocative jolt, is a sharp wake-up call through art.

"51" deciphers its social vision: the number "5" alludes to the collective (society), while "1" refers to the individual. Together, they explore the dynamic between the individual and the collective.

As a whole, RUK51 seeks to generate a creative shock within society, driving deep reflection and meaningful change through art.

RUK51 is a dynamic platform that empowers artists from diverse backgrounds by providing strategic support and resources. It functions as a catalytic space where art builds bridges across cities and cultures, fostering collaborative projects that engage with modern issues and create meaningful societal impact.

The RUK51 art movement emerges from a synthesis of creative expression and deliberate cultural disruption. Drawing inspiration from the radical traditions of Dadaism, Fluxus, and DIY ethos, its practitioners critically challenge established norms and interrogate perceptions of reality. Through a multidisciplinary practice encompassing visual art, performance, installation, and sonic experiments, RUK51 investigates the dynamic interplay between art and society. This exploration results in a distinctive and provocative visual language designed to both engage and provoke the viewer.

ART ARCHIVES

Art Archives S.J. is dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of San José de Mayo's artists for a new generation.

We transform historical documents, photographs, letters, recordings, and personal writings, into dynamic and engaging content. Our focus is on producing short documentaries, virtual talks, and digital narratives that tell the compelling stories of the artists' lives, their creative processes, and their deep connection to the unique environment of San José de Mayo.

By doing so, we act as a cultural bridge, connecting the profound local narratives of Maragato art to a global audience. We aim to inspire both residents and international viewers to see San José de Mayo through a new lens, as a vibrant hub of creativity. Our ultimate mission is to secure the rightful place of San José's artists on the national and international stage, ensuring their work is discovered, appreciated, and becomes part of the global artistic conversation.

RUK51 KIDS

RUK51 KIDS brings art, culture, and creativity to children across the world, starting with San José de Mayo, Chongqing, and Moscow. We believe in the power of art to help young minds express themselves, connect with others, and understand different cultures. Through interactive workshops, fun contests, and collaborative projects like social sculpture, we foster creativity and global community spirit.

Our program creates dynamic cultural exchanges, linking young artists from diverse backgrounds to share ideas, broaden horizons, and inspire one another. Every step of this journey, from local workshops to international collaborations, will be documented and celebrated through vibrant exhibitions and special surprises designed just for kids.
